WORCESTER LEAGUE CUP WF TOURNAMENT - EVESHAM
Solihull Moors Over 60s Crowned Worcestershire League Cup Champions
Solihull Moors Over 60s produced a superb display of walking football to lift the Worcestershire League Cup on Sunday 7th June 2026 in Evesham.
Competing against nine other teams in a highly competitive ten-team tournament, the Moors demonstrated quality, discipline and determination throughout the day to emerge as deserved champions.
The tournament began with a challenging group stage where every point proved crucial. Solihull Moors rose to the occasion, topping their group after an impressive unbeaten campaign that included two victories and two draws. The squad showed great consistency throughout the group matches, combining solid defensive organisation with patient and effective attacking play.
Having secured their place in the knockout stages, the Moors progressed to the final where they faced a strong Stratford side in what proved to be a tense and closely contested encounter.
With both teams defending resolutely and chances at a premium, neither side could find a breakthrough during normal time. The final therefore headed into golden goal extra time, where one moment of quality would decide the destination of the trophy.
That decisive moment arrived courtesy of Mick O’Dwyer.
As the opportunity presented itself, Mick calmly took his chance to score the golden goal and spark scenes of celebration among the Solihull Moors players and supporters. His strike secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory and ensured the Worcestershire League Cup would be heading back to Solihull.
While the winning goal will rightly grab the headlines, the success was built on an outstanding team performance throughout the tournament. One of the most impressive aspects of the day was the discipline shown by the squad.
Across all of their matches, Solihull Moors did not concede a single penalty for running offences, a testament to the concentration, awareness and professionalism displayed by every player. In a format where discipline can often prove decisive, the Moors consistently remained focused and composed.
That discipline paid further dividends in the final when Stratford received a Blue Card, allowing Solihull Moors to capitalise on the numerical advantage and maintain control during key periods of the game.
The victory is another excellent achievement for the club and further highlights the strength of the Over 60s squad, who have enjoyed a fantastic season competing at a high level.
The players would also like to thank the organisers and hosts in Evesham for delivering such an enjoyable and well-run tournament. The event was played in a fantastic spirit throughout and provided an excellent showcase for walking football in the region.
Congratulations to everyone involved on a superb achievement and a well-deserved Worcestershire League Cup triumph.
