INKBERROW CUP WALKING FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Solihull Moors Over 60s Crowned Inkberrow Walking Football Cup Champions

Sunday 28th June 2026

Solihull Moors Over 60s produced a flawless display to lift the Inkberrow Walking Football Cup, winning all four matches, scoring seven goals and, most impressively, not conceding a single goal throughout the tournament.

Played in warm summer conditions, the competition began with three 20-minute group stage matches, where the Moors quickly established themselves as one of the teams to beat.

The opening fixture saw Solihull Moors face Pickering. It proved to be a closely contested encounter, but the Moors remained patient before John McGinnell found the breakthrough with the only goal of the game to secure a 1-0 victory and get the campaign off to the perfect start.

The second group match against Alcester followed a similar pattern. Once again, the Moors were disciplined in defence while creating chances going forward. Brendan Mulcahy provided the decisive moment, scoring the winning goal to earn another hard-fought 1-0 victory.

With confidence growing, Solihull Moors produced their best group performance in the final match against hosts Inkberrow. Karl Insley opened the scoring before Marcus Hooper added a second to complete an impressive 2-0 win, ensuring the Moors topped the group with maximum points.

That set up a final against Stratford Town Walking Football Club, and Solihull Moors saved their best performance for the biggest game of the day.

Playing with confidence and composure, the Moors controlled the final from start to finish. Brendan Mulcahy continued his excellent tournament by scoring twice, while Marcus Hooper added his second goal of the day to complete an emphatic 3-0 victory and secure the trophy.

The scoreline could have been different had it not been for another key moment involving goalkeeper Martin Sharkey. With Stratford awarded a penalty, Sharkey produced an outstanding save to preserve the Moors’ clean sheet and maintain complete control of the final. It was another example of the resilience and quality shown throughout the tournament.

The statistics tell the story of an outstanding team performance:

While the goals grabbed the headlines, this was a triumph built on teamwork, discipline and organisation. Every player contributed throughout the day, with the defence remaining solid, the midfield controlling possession and the forwards taking their chances when it mattered most.

Congratulations to the entire Over 60s squad on another superb tournament victory and another trophy for Solihull Moors Walking Football Club.
