SOLIHULL MOORS 2 Vs ALCESTER WALKING FC 1

WORCESTER LEAGUE | 08.02.2026

The magnificent seven rode into Worcester and came away with all three points as Solihull Moors secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Alcester Walking Football.

Every player stood up and carried out the game plan superbly from the first whistle. In goal, Martin Sharkey produced a standout performance, saving a first-half penalty to keep Moors’ narrow lead intact and dealing with further efforts confidently throughout, swatting away shots like flies.

In defence, Pete Hurrell and Ian James formed a wall that was never going to tumble. They kept Alcester’s attacking threats to a minimum, limiting clear chances and frustrating the opposition forwards.

The midfield trio of Mark Finney, Kevin Attwood and Mick O’Dwyer worked tirelessly, cutting out through balls, breaking up play and keeping Alcester guessing with their creativity and discipline. Alcester struggled to build any sustained passing momentum.

Up front, Tim Tyler held the ball up brilliantly, bringing midfield runners into play and keeping the Alcester goalkeeper busy with a series of efforts and pressure that forced multiple corners.

Moors took the lead in the first half when Tim Tyler’s hold-up play created the opening for Mark Finney to finish well and put Moors 1–0 up at the break.

In the second half, Moors maintained their intensity. Finney had two further goals ruled out, either of which could have put the game beyond reach. The second goal finally arrived when Mick O’Dwyer delivered a superb ball forward. Encouraged by the midfield to take the chance, Tim Tyler drove forward, nutmegged the defender and finished past the keeper to make it 2–0.

Late drama followed as Moors were reduced to six players after a blue card. Alcester pushed forward and were awarded a late penalty, which they converted to make it 2–1 with minutes remaining. Back to seven players, Moors stayed composed and saw the game out professionally.

A massive three points keeps Solihull Moors sitting second in the league.
