Solihull Moors Over 60s made a strong start to their Birmingham League Cup campaign with a convincing 3–0 victory over Boldmere SM Walking Football Club in Round 1 of the competition.
From the opening whistle, Moors looked well organised and focused, moving the ball neatly and setting the tempo against determined opposition. Their patient build-up play and disciplined shape allowed them to control long spells of the match while limiting Boldmere to very few clear chances.
The breakthrough came when Glenn Page found the net to give Moors a deserved lead, rewarding their early pressure and positive approach. With confidence growing, Solihull Moors continued to press forward and looked dangerous whenever they entered the final third.
Boldmere battled hard and remained competitive, but Moors’ defensive unit stayed compact and composed, ensuring they maintained control of the game and preserved their advantage.
Further goals followed as Moors turned their dominance into a comfortable lead. Tim Tyler added the second with a well-taken finish, before Brendan Maxwell sealed the result with a composed strike to make it 3–0.
At the other end, Moors were disciplined and organised, keeping a well-earned clean sheet through good communication and teamwork from front to back.
Overall, it was a confident and professional performance from Solihull Moors, combining solid defending with moments of quality in attack. The win sees them safely through to the next round of the Over 60s Birmingham League Cup and provides an excellent platform to build on in the competition.
