SOLIHULL MOORS 5 Vs OLD CORINTHIANS 1
B'HAM OVER 65s CUP - ROUND 1 | 21.01.2026
Solihull Moors Over 65s produced a superb all-round performance to defeat Old Corinthians Walking Football Club 5–1 in the first round of the Over 65s Cup.
The match brought together two of the competition’s strongest sides. Old Corinthians arrived as Division 1 table toppers, having suffered just one defeat all season and full of confidence. Solihull Moors, meanwhile, came into the tie as current Premier Division title holders and unbeaten for three seasons, setting the scene for a high-quality contest.
From the opening whistle, Moors looked sharp and organised, moving the ball well and pressing with intent. Their approach paid off as they began to create chances and take control of the game.
Graham Liddiard was in outstanding form, bagging a superb hat-trick with three well-taken goals. His movement and finishing proved too much for the Corinthians defence, helped brilliantly by Mark Jones, who provided all three assists with intelligent passes and great awareness.
Further goals came from Brendan Mulcahy, who added to the scoreline with a composed finish, and an unfortunate own goal by Old Corinthians as Moors’ pressure continued to mount.
At the other end, Moors were well protected by Bob Parry, who delivered two outstanding saves at key moments to deny Old Corinthians and maintain control of the match. His performance provided the platform for the team’s attacking play and confidence throughout.
While Liddiard, Jones and Parry stood out on the day, this was very much a complete team performance, with every player contributing to a convincing and deserved victory.
A fantastic result for Solihull Moors, who move confidently into the next round of the Over 65s Cup.
