Paul Evans is the dependable and hardworking goalkeeper for Solihull Moors Walking Football Club, whose journey back into football is both inspiring and familiar to many players. In his early thirties, Paul was forced to step away from the game he loved after suffering a serious Achilles tendon injury. Like many former players, he tried other hobbies, but nothing ever matched the passion and connection he had with football.

After later being able to semi-retire, Paul decided to focus more on his health and fitness. While searching online, he discovered Solihull Moors Walking Football Club and decided to give walking football a try. From his very first session, he was warmly welcomed into the club — and he has never looked back.

Although Paul still picks up the occasional niggle, he now feels fitter and stronger than he did 20 years ago, proving just how powerful walking football can be for physical and mental wellbeing. His commitment, calm presence and safe pair of hands make him a key figure between the posts.

Away from the pitch, Paul is a proud Aston Villa supporter, married to Laura, and a devoted dad to his daughter Mia. He also enjoys spending time with his dog Stanley, who is never far from his side.

Paul’s story perfectly reflects what walking football is all about — rediscovering the joy of the game, improving health and becoming part of a supportive football family.
