You are currently viewing Mark Finney

Mark Finney — known to most teammates simply as Fin — brings an exceptional level of experience and football knowledge to Solihull Moors Walking Football Club. Holding two UEFA B coaching licences, one in football and one in futsal, Mark has spent more than a decade contributing to the development of the sport. He has coached and analysed at the highest domestic level in the National Futsal Series, working with Stafford Futsal, ProFutsal London and Birmingham Futsal, where his tactical insight and analytical approach have earned him wide respect.

On the pitch for Solihull Moors, Mark operates mainly as a centre midfielder or left midfielder, using his intelligence, vision and reading of the game to link play and control possession. A lifelong Port Vale supporter, he carries the same passion onto the walking football pitch as he does supporting his club.

Away from football, Mark has enjoyed a fascinating professional career, having previously worked as a weather forecaster (meteorologist) before moving into the tech world, where he is now a senior data engineer. His return to football through the walking game is driven by a desire to improve fitness, stay active and reconnect with the sport he loves.

Mark’s technical background, coaching pedigree and calm, composed style make him an invaluable member of the Solihull Moors squad.
