John McGinnell is a thoughtful, hard-working left midfielder whose passion for football has been with him throughout his life. A dedicated Birmingham City supporter, he brings enthusiasm, calmness and strong teamwork to every walking football session. Now retired from a long and successful career in the coffee industry, John enjoys a wide range of interests away from the pitch, including travelling, Egyptology, history and regular visits to the gym. He also has a soft spot for a good Chinese meal and holds George Best as his all-time favourite player. Walking football has given John the ideal opportunity to reconnect with the sport he loves, stay active and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with being part of a close-knit team.
John is an international player, currently representing Ireland in the Over 65s. His claim to fame happened in 2022 as the first hat-trick scorer for Ireland. It was against Wales in Dublin for the Over 60s.
