SOLIHULL MOORS 6 Vs TAMWORTH STROLLERS 1
BIRMINGHAM LEAGUE OVER 55s | 14.12.2025
League leaders Solihull Moors continued their strong form with a convincing 6–1 win over Tamworth Strollers, though the match began far more competitively than the final scoreline suggests. Tamworth came out at a terrific pace, pressing high and forcing Moors to rely on two early smart saves from goalkeeper Tony “Tee” Norton to keep the game level.
Once Moors settled, the momentum shifted dramatically. In a devastating three-minute spell, Solihull scored three goals, effectively deciding the contest before Tamworth could respond. Rick Hopgood struck twice in quick succession, and Glenn Page added a clinical third to make it 3–0. Midfielders Andy, Dale and Ade moved the ball sharply around the pitch, controlling possession and stretching the opposition.
Shortly afterwards, Tim Tyler arrived straight from the Worcester League victory and was immediately involved in the build-up to Glenn Page’s second of the match. Moors went into the break 4–0 ahead and firmly in control.
The second half, however, showed the effects of a busy weekend of football. The tempo slowed, and both sides struggled to find the same energy as the first period. Even so, Rick Hopgood completed his hat-trick with another well-taken finish. A lively cameo from Brendan Maxwell caused defensive chaos — and in the confusion, Tamworth seized a deserved consolation goal.
Rick later completed the scoring to secure a comprehensive 6–1 victory, but not before Tee produced a spectacular “one for the cameras” save to close out the match in style.
Another strong result for Solihull Moors Over 55s, keeping them firmly on track at the top of the Birmingham League.
