SOLIHULL MOORS 2 Vs SHREWSBURY 99'ERS 0

BIRMINGHAM LEAGUE PREMIER | 14.12.2025

Solihull Moors earned a well-deserved 2–0 victory over Shrewsbury 99’ers in a fiercely contested Premier Division match. From the opening whistle, Shrewsbury applied early pressure, testing the Moors defence and forcing goalkeeper Tony Norton into several outstanding saves to keep the game level.

A couple of poorly timed — though entirely accidental — tackles on Phil Clinton seemed to stir Moors into action. As momentum shifted, Solihull began to find their rhythm. Rick Hopgood came close twice: first having a goal disallowed and then striking the post. Further chances followed, but the impressive Shrewsbury goalkeeper produced excellent stops to deny Richard Jackson, Martin and Andy as Moors pushed forward.

Despite sustained pressure, the breakthrough proved frustratingly elusive. Shots drifted wide, blocks came at crucial moments, and time was beginning to run out. But Moors’ persistence finally paid off. After sustained attacking pressure, Wazza drilled an unstoppable strike into the net, giving Solihull the lead they thoroughly deserved.

A clever tactical substitution followed, adding fresh legs to the forward line. The impact was immediate. Brendan Maxwell capitalised on space, finishing confidently to double the lead and seal the result.

A hard-earned 2–0 win for Solihull Moors, defined by resilience, patience and quality in key moments. Strong defensive foundations, superb goalkeeping and clinical finishing ensured Moors took all three points and carried valuable momentum into the rest of their Premier Division campaign.
