SOLIHULL MOORS 1 Vs BIRMINGHAM WALKING FOOTBALL 2

B'HAM OVER 60s CUP - SEMI FINAL | 22.03.2026

Solihull Moors suffered a narrow 2–1 defeat to Birmingham Walking Football in the Over 60s League Cup, despite producing a dominant performance for large periods of the game.

Moors controlled possession throughout, moving the ball well and applying constant pressure against a Birmingham side that sat deep and remained well organised. The visiting goalkeeper was in outstanding form, making several excellent saves to deny Moors what could have been a comfortable lead.

Despite their dominance, Moors were caught out by two quick counter-attacks early in the second half, conceding twice in a short spell to fall 2–0 behind — a harsh reflection of the balance of play.

Moors continued to push forward and were unfortunate not to reduce the deficit sooner. Brendan Mulcahy had a goal disallowed for running, while further chances went begging as Birmingham held firm.

The breakthrough finally came late on when Brendan Maxwell reacted quickly to fire home a snap shot, but it proved too little too late for Moors to complete the comeback.

The players accepted the result with commendable sportsmanship and humility. While the absence of key players due to other fixtures may have had an impact, Moors still had enough quality on the pitch to take something from the game.

Attention now turns to the national cup competitions over the summer, where Moors will look to respond and build on an otherwise strong campaign.
